Tucked into the old Red Hook Brewery complex in Woodinville’s Hollywood District, LATTA Wines offers small-production, Rhône-style wines with intentional, innovative winemaking and plenty of personality. Founded by former sommelier Andrew Latta, LATTA Wines began as a passion project spotlighting varietals from some of Washington’s most intriguing vineyard sites — think Royal Slope, Snipes Mountain, Walla Walla, and the Rocks District. From the start, Latta has emphasized sustainability, native fermentation, and aging in neutral French oak, letting the grapes (and their terroir) do the talking.

The flight here highlights LATTA’s house style: clean, food-friendly wines with energy and poise. At the time of my last visit, the tasting started with a Roussanne — crisp and deep with beautiful texture — followed by the flagship “LATTA LATTA” GSM blend, the well-structured Lawrence Vineyard Syrah, deep and delicious Piece Syrah, and a Cab/Syrah blend that will make any Washington red enthusiast salivate. The wines are bold but not brash, perfect for Rhône lovers or anyone curious to explore beyond the usual Merlots and Chardonnays that sometimes dominate the WA wine landscape.

In addition to their LATTA label, you’ll find two offshoot brands: Kind Stranger, a philanthropic label with proceeds donated to Mary’s Place, and Lucius, an experimental label inspired by the winemaker’s great-grandfather Lucius Latta, whose experiences in the era of agricultural industrialization inspired Andrew to keep innovating, come what trends may. All three brands are available to taste and buy onsite.

The Woodinville tasting room is casual, spacious and inviting, with a well-stocked cheese bar (plus meats, snacks, sodas and even beer) to complement the wine. Kids are welcome (and pets are invited to join on the outdoor heated patio), and the vibe is all about hospitality — they’re eager to meet you where you're at, whether you’re a wine newbie or a seasoned collector.

Bottle prices range from $28-$65 for the LATTA label, $17 for Kind Stranger, and $30 for the Lucius label. If you’re looking for serious Rhône-style wines, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and a thoughtful lineup that invites discovery, let us know in your pre-tour survey and we will arrange to visit Latta.

Salut, and enjoy Woodinville!
